New Song for Christmas: We Know Who You’ll Be

Mormon LDS Music

I am SO EXCITED to finally be posting another song!  I have written a few in the interim between postings, but entered them into various sheet music competitions and can’t post until I know for sure I didn’t win. . .I’ll find out tomorrow for sure, and then I’ll post them for you to use 🙂

So, this song I’m posting today is my first original Christmas song.  This was one of those treasured times as a composer that I really just discovered how this song was supposed to be rather than writing it myself–truly, it was inspired.  It usually takes me 2-3 weeks from idea to music and then another 2-3 weeks to write it into my music program when I personally write a song.  This song came to me Saturday (as in 2 days ago), and now it is complete.  I must take the chance to thank my Heavenly Father for this one, because it is only through His guidance and inspiration I was able to write this one.

This song starts out with a solo alto (or all women) singing from the perspective of Mary asking her new Son if He knows who He is and what He will do.  The next verse, the men sing as the wise men and sing about a similar sentiment.  The last verse the entire choir joins and sings as all the people that have come to worship the new baby Jesus.  They testify to Him of who He is and that they have come because they want to give Him their all.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed writing it down.  And I hope that someone out there may be able to use this during this upcoming Christmas season to praise our Savior and all He has done for us.

We Know Who You’ll Be

Lyrics:

Women or solo alto
My sweet Child, do you know who you’ll be?
My dear Child, they’ll come here to see,
For You are the One who will set us all free.
Oh, Child, my Child,
Do you know who You’ll be?
All parts
In our sorrow, in our night,
You’ll bring hope, You’ll bring light!
You will save us all from sin,
You will help us all begin, again.
Men unison
Child, Child, do you know who you are?
Child, Child, we followed a star
To bring you gifts of gold and of myrrh from afar.
For Child, Child, we know You are.
All parts
In our sorrow, in our night,
You’ll bring hope, You’ll bring light!
You will save us all from sin,
You will help us all being, again.
All mostly unison with a few parts
Child, Child, we know who You’ll be,
Child, Child, we’ve come on bended knee
To give praise, and our hearts, and our love unto Thee.
For Child, Child, we know who You’ll be!
Our Savior and Master: We know who will be!
